Become a Beta Tester!
The Desert Island Library is currently registering volunteer beta testers to help evaluate our website on a variety of
platforms and provide feedback for our next official release. Applications are welcome from all members of the Desert
Island Library community - particularly new users.
Why become an official Desert Island Library beta tester? First and foremost, your participation will help make our
online community stronger by helping us identify and fix a myriad of website issues. Unlike most commercial software, which
is laboriously tested in a controlled environment (often at significant cost), the Desert Island Library is collaborative
community-managed, which means that we all benefit from a stable easy-to-use online environment. As a result, the Desert
Island Library is extremely attentive to the needs of its users, and offers beta testing as an excellent way to get users
involved with subsequent releases.
To register as a beta tester, please fill out the form below. Unfortunately, not all users who apply may be
selected. If you don't receive an official invitation within a couple weeks to join the beta testing group at the
Desert Island Library, please don't take it personally; it may be that we have enough testers with your specific platform or
system specifications, or we may simply have a full complement of testers already at work. New opportunities to join the
beta testing group do become available, so please be persistant. To increase your chances of becoming a beta tester at
the Desert Island Library, you can try increasing the size of your friend list; many of the features we attempt to test
involve interaction with other users, so those members with a large friend list are often better able to perform specific tests.
Thank you for your interest in the Desert Island Library, and for helping make our online environment the best it can
possibly be.
